Yesterday, I agreed with Marjorie Taylor Green and Steve Bannon, some of the most odious, hateful toads of the MAGA universe. This is how I know we live in the worst multiverse timeline.
Those right-wing extremists represent an influential base in MAGA that believes “America First” means no new wars, especially on behalf of Israel. Rep. Thomas Massie is their loudest ideologue in the House, and Tucker Carlson, who has been quiet since the US joined Israel’s war against Iran, roasted Senator Ted Cruz for his permanent war boner.
These “America First” non-interventionists are part of 85% of Americans who don’t want a war with Iran, according to a YouGov poll. For the neo-con, RINO war hawks like David Frum and Adam Kinzinger, however, an opportunity to engage in a violent, destabilizing regime change is enough for them to temporarily cheerlead Donald Trump, who has decided to ignore U.S. intelligence and go by “vibes” and Fox News.
Do you feel safer, America? Do you feel greater?
Earlier today, Trump expressed his frustration at both Iran and Israel not abiding by the alleged ceasefire that Trump claimed was achieved yesterday. “We have two countries that have been fighting so long that they don't know what the FUCK they’re doing,” Trump told the press.
As is the case with Donald, it’s always projection. He’s repeatedly thrown his cabinet under the bus and undermined their public statements. J.D. Vance and Hegseth told America this wasn’t a regime change, only for Trump to later post that it is. Trump claims the U.S. destroyed Iran’s nuclear sites and enriched uranium, only for photos to be released that show moderate damage and reports that Iran moved its stockpile thanks to Trump telegraphing his intentions on Truth Social.
Instead of de-escalation, there’s only escalation now as gas prices are higher, countries will most likely race toward nuclear proliferation, and Iran and Israel will continue playing a long game that will involve asymmetrical warfare, assassinations, and terrorism. A massive opportunity exists for Democrats to become the anti-war party and jump on Trump’s numerous mistakes and dwindling poll numbers. Unfortunately, we have Rep. Jeffries. When asked his opinion on the bipartisan resolution requiring congressional approval for military action against Iran, Jeffries replied, “I haven't taken a look at it.”
Well, isn’t that lovely?
Thankfully, I can talk to experts who actually care about our national security and safety and are willing to discuss the short and long-term ramifications of Trump’s reckless war. Olivia Troye, a national security professional who left the first Trump Administration, joins me, and later on in the conversation, Lev Parnas, a former Trump associate and MAGA fixer, jumps in to offer an analysis on how Putin is exploiting this crisis.
