Donald Trump’s “excursion” into Iran has just expanded.
What was supposed to be a slam-dunk victory resulting in Iranians rejoining and celebrating Trump and Israel killing the Ayatollah and killing 165 school girls has now turned into a “FUBAR” (F***** Up Beyond All Recognition) situation according to commentator, analyst, and host David Rothkopf.
Earlier today, the United States announced it was sending 2,200 Marines aboard three U.S. Navy amphibious ships to the Middle East. NBC just reported the Pentagon is deploying 5,000 additional service members to the Middle East.
More U.S. soldiers are dying as civilian casualties rise in both Iran and Lebanon, where Israeli bombardment has led to the displacement of over 700,000 people. The United States is now witnessing blowback in the form of terrorism, as a synagogue was attacked by a man whose family was allegedly killed in Lebanon by Israel. Meanwhile, U.S. consulates and bases in the Middle East are targets, and tourists and diplomats are unable to escape and reach home.
The markets are swinging due to the uncertainty, volatility, and insecurity brought on by the war and Iran’s choking of the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the biggest oil supply disruptions in history. But, Trump and Pete Kegseth are still projecting strength and cosplaying as tough guys. When asked when the war would end, Trump replied, “When I feel it in my bones.” He meant to say bone spurs.
We are being led by the worst people who are surrounded by war-mongering extremists, each pursuing a destructive agenda. Whether it’s neocon war hawks with nightly wargasms like Lindsey Graham, white Christian nationalists like Hegseth, or pro-Israel cheerleaders like the ADL’s Jonathan Greenblatt, who equated Israel’s genocidal regime to Judaism and Jews, all of them are pouring gasoline on a raging war.
