Republicans spent nearly $200 million on ads targeting trans people. They successfully portrayed them as Voldemort to terrify Americans to vote against their interests and re-elect a criminal, racist vulgarian. Combined with a manufactured hysteria against “the woke” and “DEI,” Republicans rebooted the time-tested and effective “Southern Strategy.”
In the past, the cause of all our problems were the “welfare queens” or “Sharia and radical Islam” or “a caravan invasion filled with undocumented immigrants.” This time the focus was on 1% of the population who represent some of the marginalized communities in America. They’re allegedly coming for your kids!
Along with Black people, the undocumented, the libs, and feminists, they will allegedly replace Western civilization and weaken the white man according to the “replacement theory” that has been mainstreamed by the GOP and inspired terrorists to commit violence. They are allegedly working through “DEI” to indoctrinate our children and force us to be obsessed with race. Unfortunately, a plurality of Americans fell for it. It shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s been “woke” for the past two years that Trump’s first order of business wasn’t bringing down the price of eggs, but instead attacking trans people and all DEI initiatives, including firing the most competent and experienced members of government, such as Air Force Gen. CQ Brown Jr. Somehow, the world’s most mediocre white men, such as Pete Hegseth and RFK Jr. fail. up, and women, Black folks, and people of color (“DEI hires”) are losing their jobs. White supremacy has always been dumb and self-destructive.
Thankfully, there is still a majority of us who are committed to creating a path towards racial equity, justice, and freedom. One of those individuals is Dr. David Johns, an educator and chief executive officer and executive director of the National Black Justice Collective, a civil rights group. He was appointed the first executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans by President Obama. He’s currently the host of “Teace the Babies” podcast and was cited by Time Magazine as one of 25 Black leaders working to end the racial equity gap.
In this important and hopeful Chai Talk, Dr. Johns discusses how the rest of us can protect ourselves from the forces of white supremacy, resist the Trump Administration’s hateful attacks, and begin the journey toward true racial justice, healing, and equality in America.
