Burning books? Check.
Attacking public education and eductators? Check.
Banning history courses? Check.
Fear-mongering against LGBTQ communities? Check.
Shaming women for being childless and demanding they produce more babies? Check.
This is part and parcel of Trump’s Project 2025 and the MAGA agenda, which was made even more obvious this week in their ugly and hateful attacks against VP Kamala Harris and the misgendering of Algerian Olympic boxer Iman Khelif.
These were also the exact same attacks implemented by Nazis and other authoritarian regimes.
Republicans have been laser-focused in dismantling our public education system since Brown v. Board of Education ruled that segregation wasn’t constitutional. It has been the primary foundation of their endless, relentless, exhaustive culture war that now includes the Olympics, Disney cartoons, CRT, DEI, and M&M’s.
I sat down with Professor Jason Stanley whose forthcoming book Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the History connects the dots and warns about how MAGA is adopting a familiar playbook against our education system in order to gain permanent control.
