How can VP Kamala Harris and Democrats Resist MAGA's Fascist Attacks?

Now that President Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, not only does she have to contend with racism, misogyny, billionaires, and Joe Manchin, but she will have to resist MAGA, a right-wing authoritarian movement that seeks a Trump dictatorship.

The one word that encapsulates the threat is fascism. Historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat, editor of Lucid substack and author of Strongmen, has been sounding the alarm about MAGA’s end game. She has spent the past five years trying to educate Americans about how Trump and MAGA are using a tried and tested playbook that was first adopted in Italy by Mussolini. In addition to propaganda, threats, and stoking “cultural anxiety,” fascist regimes also rely on misogyny and promising to return to the “natural order,” which disempowers women and places them beneath men.

In light of yesterday’s news of President Biden stepping down, I talked to Ruth about how MAGA fascists will try to target VP Harris as a Black Indian daughter of immigrants. Most importantly, we discussed how the majority can resist their authoritarian tactics and instead lead a pro-democracy movement fueled by a narrative of hope.
