Democrats are riding the joyful wave of a successful, enthusiastic DNC. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are leading in most polls. Donald Trump is becoming more unhinged and mashing buttons on his phone during live TV interviews.
But here comes the record scratch and a moment of collective anxiety.
Republicans are learning from their failed coup attempt in 2020. They’ve spent the past four years refining their efforts to exploit the 2024 election and throw enough sand in the gears to help Trump win. Even though Harris-Walz will win the popular vote, this election will come down to a handful of states, most notably Pennsylvania or Georgia.
