Did you see the Presidential debate? The most important takeaway according to the overwhelming majority of pundits in corporate media was President Biden looked old and diminished. This has been the leading news for nearly two weeks now. They can’t stop talking about it.
Unnamed sources are saying he is no longer fit for the job. Those same sources are saying he has deteriorated. Does he have Parkinsons? Does he have dementia? Who knows, but let’s just write about it! For the good of the country, he must step down! Someone, anyone, should replace him four months before the election!
Meanwhile, Black Democratic voters are still sticking with Biden, along with VP Kamala Harris and most Democratic leaders. During this endless “debate-gate” news cycle, the GOP has unleashed Project 2025, the Supreme Court has given the President “absolute immunity” for official acts, and Trump has been busy golfing, lying, and posting nonsense on social media. But none of this merits incessant coverage.
I talk to columnist and author Rebecca Solnit on why the punditocracy is doubling down on their anti-Biden coverage and the potentially devastating consequences of their reckless reporting and historical amnesia.
